Latah Corridor Improvements

The Latah Street corridor continues to be an area of active planning and investment as the Depot Bench neighborhood grows. Several public and private projects are underway or in development, all with the shared goal of improving safety, accessibility, and the overall experience for residents, businesses, and visitors.

One of the most significant efforts is the City of Boise's Latah + Alpine Safety Improvements study. Through the COMPASS Project Development Program, the city is evaluating options to improve pedestrian safety, bicycle access, parking, and traffic circulation around the busy Latah and Alpine intersection. Proposed concepts include enhanced crosswalks, pedestrian refuge islands, new sidewalks and multi-use pathways, improved connections to Morris Hill Park and Jefferson Elementary School, and additional parking opportunities. Community feedback is helping guide the preferred concept before future design and construction funding is secured.

In addition to public infrastructure improvements, new private developments are helping shape the corridor. Projects such as the mixed-use development at 10 S. Latah Street are introducing new housing and neighborhood-serving commercial space while increasing activity along the corridor.

Throughout these planning efforts, the Depot Bench Neighborhood Association has participated in public meetings and development presentations, advocating for neighborhood priorities including pedestrian safety, clear intersection visibility, thoughtful traffic circulation, and parking considerations. The association will continue to share project updates and opportunities for community participation as plans move forward.

As improvements continue, the Latah corridor is expected to become a safer, more connected gateway for everyone who lives, works, and visits Depot Bench.
