Movie Under the Stars

Movie Under the Stars

Head to Bowden Park for a fun-filled family “Movies Under the Stars” evening begining at 7:00pm with free fun and games for kids provided by Boise Parks and Recreation Mobile Recreation Van. A family friendly movie will be shown on a 30’ screen by 9:45pm or when dark. 

The free family movies and fun are presented by Boise Parks and Recreation and the Boise Schools Education Foundation.

Tips for a great experience:

  • Temperatures cool off after dark so bring blankets and clothes to stay warm

  • Bring a picnic dinner or purchase food from on-site vendor

  • No dogs please

  • No smoking or alcohol permitted

  • Low back camp chairs welcome

  • Flashlights recommended for leaving the park after movie

  • Street parking limited, walking or biking is encouraged

3rd Annual Depot Bench Bash!

Join your neighbors at the Boise Train Depot for the third annual DBNA open house!

This year The Depot Bench Banch will feature bell tower tours, a children's activity booth, and various neighborhood businesses will be sharing their goods.

Of course, we'll also give updates on our neighborhood and share lots of opportunities for ways to get involved!

DBNA Fall Meeting

Fall Neighborhood Meeting

It's time for our fourth quarter neighborhood meeting! 

Join us at our neighborhood's newest community space - The Gem Center for the Arts - at 6 pm.

Agenda Outline:

  • Introduction of The Gem Center for the Arts, by Rachel Baxa
  • Discussion about City’s plan to build Sports Stadium on Americana Blvd
  • Presentation from City Parks and Recreation about agenda for parks in DBNA boundaries over next 5 years
  • Discussion and vote on extending DBNA boundaries (in bylaws) to include segment of neighborhoods off of Federal Way between Capitol Blvd and Protest Hill (currently in Southeast Boise NA)
  • Vote on 2018 Reinvestment Grant proposal

Plus, we'll be giving away DBNA swag!!

Fall Clean Up Day

Join us for our fall Clean Up Day. We will be meeting at South Junior High.

We will have some tools and supplies on hand, but please bring gloves and any tools you think may help make our neighborhood shine!

Neighborhood Clean Up!

Join us this Saturday to clean up our neighborhood!

Our first project will be to paint over graffiti on the building on the corner of Vaughn and Latah. We will also do trash pickup along Alpine Street and the train tracks and/or spray and pull weeds along the sidewalks throughout our neighborhood. 

We'll meet at South Junior High at 10 am.

*If you have paint brushes and/or rollers you are willing to use, please bring them. Trash bags, gloves, weeding** tools/spray would also be excellent to have on hand!

Vista Area Public Safety Discussion

Per request of neighbors off of Overland Rd., the City of Boise is holding a public safety discussion on June 7, 5:30pm-6:30pm at the Whitney Community Center.  Neighbors in this area have particular questions;  but all members of the neighborhood and community are invited to attend.
